I was a quarter of the way into this book when I finally realized why it seemed so familiar. I had seen the movie that was based on the book starring Ed Harris, Viggo Mortenson, and Renee Zellweger. It follows the book quite closely so there wasn't a lot of suspense in the narrative. But the book does give you a better sense of Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch's friendship which is I think the biggest strength of this series of books. I enjoyed listening to the audio as it highlights the rhythms of speech prevelent in westerns which I love. My one issue with the books is that they are not terribly complimentary of women to say the least. They are very masculine and the one woman featured is pretty horrible.
