I had a really hard time getting into this book. So hard in fact that I quit after 200 pages. I liked it well enough that if I knew the story was going to be wrapped up by the end of the book I would have continued but knowing this was the first in the series I gave up.
The characters and their relationships did not engage me, the dialect given to the native Nangadans drove me up a wall and pulled me out of the story every time one of them spoke, and the story while it held my interest to a degree was not riveting enough to overcome the above weaknesses.
Not a bad book, I guess, but definitely not my thing.
